Carlos Moreno
Carlos Moreno is a graphic designer at CAP Tulsa, Oklahoma's largest anti-poverty nonprofit organization and a national leader in early childhood education. He also volunteers with Code for Tulsa, working to make local government work for the people, by the people, in the 21st century.
As a serial entrepreneur, writer, and community activist, he has been at the forefront of many of Tulsa’s innovative ideas and civic engagement movements including the formation of Tulsa Fablab, The Forge, YP Tulsa, TulsaNow, Smart Growth Tulsa, and the Tulsey Awards.
He was selected by national urban-affairs magazine NextCity as part of its 2014 Vanguard Class. In 2015, he was certified by IDEO and +Acumen, in the practice of Human-Centered Design. Carlos earned a Bachelor of Arts in Administrative Leadership in 2017 and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree with a focus on civic technology in 2020 from the University of Oklahoma.
Carlos serves on the board of Urban Coders Guild which teaches programming skills to disadvantaged youth, as well as the Open Source Software Development Education Advisory Board at Tulsa University, the Advisory Board for the City of Tulsa’s Office of Performance Strategy and Innovation, the Gilcrease Museum Community Advisory Council, and the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) MPA Advisory Board.
Meg Sutherland
Meg Sutherland is a communications and marketing professional with over 15 years of experience. Much of her focus has been on helping area non-profits that provide assistance for women, children and minorities. Most recently, she co-founded Spark Collaborative which supports creative projects with some element of social responsibility. The most recent of these is the Victory of Greenwood where she performs extensive research, editing and grant writing.
Her pro-bono work has included providing public relations services to TulsaNow and as a storyteller for Code for Tulsa (a local brigade of Code for America). She was also instrumental in the creation of Tulsa Little Jam, a video and podcast series showcasing area musicians and performers, which launched in Tulsa in 2018.
Meg graduated, cum laude, from Langston University in 1996 with a B.A. in Psychology. She has two adult sons and resides in Tulsa, OK.
Mery McNett
Mery McNett is a Tulsa-based graphic designer and multi-media artist. She served as the graphics and communications director in the Tulsa Arts District for 10 years.
As an artist, she works in various media, including painting, sculpture and video art, with subject matters focusing on the human brain.
Through the years, her graphic design work has been used in material produced by Tulsa area arts organizations, such as Living Arts of Tulsa, the Blue Dome Arts Festival, and ahha Tulsa.
She graduated from the University of Tulsa in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in Studio Arts with a minor in Art History.
Mikeal-Richard Vaughn

Mikeal Vaughn is the founder and Executive Director of Urban Coders Guild, a Tulsa-based nonprofit organization that provides web and mobile application development skills to underserved and under-resourced communities.
After spending nearly two decades working in IT in the US and Southeast Asia, Mikeal is a global industry veteran who knows well what it means to be one of the few Black faces in the workplace. He also knows that it takes more than tech skills to succeed in the ever changing STEM industry environment. He believes that tech skills and experience paired with soft skills training are vital but more can be done to ensure that young people of color or women to thrive in STEM industry jobs. We must also be intentional in building strong ecosystems – communities of belonging – in which they learn and thrive. Mikeal equates this as a powerful means to combatting the income inequality and wealth gap.
Mikeal is a native Tulsan and graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. He is an advocate for education, human rights, and mental health awareness. When he’s not actively promoting Urban Coders Guild, Mikeal is an avid pop culture enthusiast who enjoys urban exploration, ethnic good, and Italian opera. He spent almost a decade living in Japan and speaks fluent Japanese. He holds a BA from the University of Maryland and an MBA from Temple University Japan.
Dr. Wilkerson, Ph.D, MA
Consultant
Dr. Wendi Wilkerson is Head of English for the Broken Arrow Early College High School program, which is dedicated to helping prepare ninth and tenth grade students for college-level coursework in their junior and senior years. She also serves her fellow ECHS faculty design effective digital learning experiences, so that ECHS students get the best possible distance learning and computer-based education possible. For the past decade, Dr. Wilkerson has also worked as an ethnographer, researcher, and collections consultant for private clients in New York, Louisiana, and California. “If These Bricks Could Talk” is her first such project in Tulsa.
When she isn’t busy teaching or consulting, Dr. Wilkerson is busy working with arts and education nonprofits. In 2004, she won the Tribute to the Arts Classical Dance award for producing “Cultures in Motion: A Festival of Ethnic Dance” at the UNO Downtown theater in the city of New Orleans, where she also served as a docent for the National WWII Museum and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. In 2007, she served as the panel coordinator for the First Annual Louisiana Conference on Language and Literature held at UL-Lafayette. She was pleased to co-produce the UL Department of English Thursday Night Reading Series from 2008-2009. Dr. Wilkerson consulted for the 2014 “Impact” retrospective exhibition of fine art from the Philbrook Indian Annual competitions held from 1946-1979. From 2015-2016, Dr. Wilkerson utilized her skills in ethnography, performing arts, and traditional culture to build a specialized curriculum for Xen Yuan Academy of the Arts in San Francisco that blended traditional Chinese values and aesthetics with the rigor and broadness of Western academics.
A 2009-2010 Dissertation Fellow with the American Association of University Women, Dr. Wilkerson graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with a doctorate in Folklore, having completed a Master’s in Arts Administration from the University of New Orleans immediately prior to that. She is proud to serve her community as a precinct official for the Tulsa County Election Board.
Cheryl Lawson
Social Media Manager
Cheryl Lawson is the founder of Social Media Tulsa, Tulsa’s go-to source for social media support. She brings corporate marketing communications, entrepreneurial acumen, and deep social media and event marketing expertise to her clients, colleagues, and students. In addition to Social Media Tulsa, Cheryl leads numerous social media teams for some of Tulsa’s favorite events and festivals.
Cheryl holds a BA from Southern University in Baton Rouge and an MBA from Nova Southeastern University. Cheryl is a marketing course developer and former adjunct professor for the University of California Extension Center where she first began teaching social media marketing, event marketing, market research, and event sponsorship courses. Cheryl currently teaches Social Media at Oklahoma State University Tulsa Campus.
Social media is often what gets Cheryl in the door, but clients quickly realize that her knowledge of all marketing and communication is an invaluable asset. The fact that she understands how to translate her marketing experience to the digital space is what makes Cheryl truly remarkable.

Lincoln is skilled in Leadership, Performance, Media Design, Nonprofit Organization, Production, Management, Advertising, Theatre, and Events. He is a Strong Performing Fine Arts & Entertainment professional with a BFA in Musical Theatre Performance and Masters of Science in Education, Learning & Technology.
His production credits include the first Oklahoma high school musical productions of Ragtime, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Phantom of The Opera, Dreamgirls, Sweeney Todd, Rent, Hairspray, Mel Brooks Young Frankenstein, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Once on This Island, Disney’s The Lion King Experience, Sister Act, and Carver Middle Schools The Little Mermaid.
Cherae Stone
Research Assistant
Cherae has 40 years’ experience working in the health science sector providing editing of medical documents, transcription, form design, extensive research and implementing credentialing requirements.
Her multiple opportunities to travel and work abroad fed her lifelong interest in other cultures and their traditions. She has a natural curiosity and affinity for history which led her to seek a diverse, inclusive course of study through which she earned a doctoral degree in Divinity from the American Institute of Holistic Theology in Birmingham, Alabama.
As a researcher and editor, Cherae brings to The Victory of Greenwood the curiosity to seek out and document the truth, an eye for detail, a deep respect for each individual’s and family’s story, and the desire for dignity in all aspects of human relations.
Trey Thaxton
Graphic Designer
Trey Thaxton is the owner of Goldmill Co., a graphic design firm in Tulsa. He created the brand: Greenwood Ave. to highlight the over 600 businesses and their success on Black Wall Street.
